Manicure Routine 101

Hello Lovelies! Welcome to my first blog post. I thought it would be very appropriate if for my first post I share with you guys my manicure routine.  Other girls may do it differently but this is how it works for me and my nails stay healthy and pretty so I hope this works for you as well.

To get started you'll need:

  • Cuticle remover
  • Cuticle pusher
  • Nail File
  • Nail Clippers or Cuticle Cutter
  • Cuticle Oil
  • Cotton balls
  • Nail polish remover
  • 100% pure acetone
  • Flat nail art brush or concealer brush
  • Buffer
  • Base Coat
  • Top Coat
  • Nail polish

Start off with clean nails. Remove any residue of nail polish with nail polish remover.

Apply cuticle remover on your cuticles and wait from 30 seconds to one minute to push them back
with your cuticle pusher.

Remove any hang nails with your nail clippers or cuticle cutter.

Shape your nails to your desire length and style with a nail file.

Use a buffer to buff and smooth your nails.

Apply a base coat. This is very important in every manicure. The base coat protects your natural nail, nourishes and make your nail polish stick to your nail longer. My favorite is Duri Rejuvacote. It makes my nails stronger and harder, and it prevents chipping of my nail polish and also from breaking. I really love this base coat and you can buy it here in Amazon.

Now to paint your nails with your nail polish place your nail polish brush in the middle of your nail bed pushing the brush towards your cuticle but without actually touching it. Then the same thing on the left and the right of your nail. Here I'm using Pacific Blue by Sally Hansen.

Repeat with your second coat and seal your manicure by painting the edge of your nail.

Apply a top coat.  This step is also very important. You shouldn't finished your manicure without applying a top coat.  This helps your manicure last longer and provides shine to your nails. I have lots of different top coats but I would recommend HK Girl Top Coat by Glisten & Glow which you can buy here This top coat is fast drying, very shiny and it doesn't smear or run your design if your doing nail art. It is a great top coat.

Now let's clean up!
Grab a small vase and 100% pure acetone

With your flat nail art brush or a small concealer brush you'll dip in into de acetone and clean your cuticle. The nail polish shouldn't touch the cuticles ever. This makes your nails look clean and like you just went to the salon to get a manicure.

To finish it all up, apply cuticle oil all around your cuticles and massage onto your nails. This will help with your nails drying faster and it'll hydrate your nails after using pure acetone.

And you're done!

Now ready to show off your nails as if you've gone to a professional but done by yourself and at the comfort of your home.
