Fly little bird...

Hi guys! So my mom got me this beautiful nail polish (Exotic Encounters by China Glaze) for my birthday and I couldn't wait to try it!  It is a perfect shade for fall!  I pair it up with Five Rules from The Giver Collection also by China Glaze.

On my middle finger I draw a little bird and wrote the word Fly on my ring finger.

Cactus Love

Last week I had the pleasure to do a #bestiestwinnails with one of my bestie from my Nail Crew, Ivy (@simple_short_nails).

This design was very fun to do because we both got some very funny and painful stories regarding a sharp cactus.

Swirls, Floral & Rhinestone

Hello guys, thank you for stopping by! :)
Today I bring you a simple yet eye-catching mani.  I sat down to do my nails and my mind went completely blank! I had no idea what to do! So I just started doodling on my nail and this is what it came out.  As you may see on my video, I'm just making swirls and leaves around a flower I easily painted with a dotting tool.  To glam it up I finished the flower with a rhinestone on the center and that's it!

For my ring finger I did a Moroccan pattern using Vinyl Quickies stencils, which you can get at a very low price and she always ships very fast so I totally recommend her.

Lil Bird - Watercolor

I hope you guys love this lil fella as much as I do!
He's so cute!

First I outlined the birdie on my nail with a detailing nail art brush and then I did a watercolor effect on top of the nail as my background.  Since the bird is in black polish (Black On Black by Sinful Colors) I could do the watercolor last and it still look as if I did it before I draw the bird.  The reason I did it this way is so I could repair any mistakes on the bird, if I  made one, without messing up the background.

Black & White Stripes

Hi guys! Our #pinkforoctober challenge its almost over!  How fun it's been to have our nails pink for the whole month?  Some may think it is pretty tedious, but pink is my favorite color so I actually enjoy having my nails pink at all times!

This time I went pretty simple with just one accent nail, and I love how it came out.  I'm loving the combo of Black and White with a touch of gold!! I even redecorated my family room this week and that's the color combo I chose for the decor and I have to say that's my favorite room of the house at the moment.

Dopamine (love) formula

Is there really a chemical formula for love?

Well, not actually, but the characteristic signs of being in, or feeling as if, you’re “in love” are caused by the chemical Phenylethylamine (C8H11N) which is released from the brain. It also acts as a releasing agent for Dopamine and Norepinephrine (a chemical which stimulates adrenaline production…and makes your heart race!)

Dopamine is an endogenous brain chemical that has been linked to producing feelings of pleasure and personal satisfaction.  It is also thought to play a major role in directing attention, addiction, romantic love and movement.

Dr. Seuss-The Cat In The Hat

“Look at me!
Look at me!
Look at me NOW!
It is fun to have fun
But you have to know how.”
― Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat

I'm totally nuts about Dr. Seuss and his books and my dear friend Sheily Mae and I, among other things that we have in common, also share the love for Dr. Seuss.  So we just had to do a Besties Twin Nails inspired by one of his stories so we chose The Cat In The Hat.

I received straight from Australia some amazing new nail polish strips called Personail.  They have beautiful nail art designs as well as solid colors strips. They are durable, easy to apply, you don't to wait for them to dry and they literally look as if you've spend hours on a nail salon.

Inside Out's Disgust

"The grape touched the ground. It's poisoned."
"You know what else barely touches the ground? Stray dogs, toenail clippings, road kill, hippies, dung beetles..."

We took the kids to the movies to watch the movie Inside Out by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures and I have to confess, I enjoyed it even more than my babies. I even cried!
And most of all I loved the character of Disgust.

Disgust is one of the five emotions controlling Riley's mind and helping her.  Joy and another emotion, Sadness, literally get lost in Riley's mid, she and the other emotions have to keep Riley's head on straight until Joy and Sadness get home. But as you can imagine, with Disgust, Fear and Anger on they're own to control Riley's mind, well everything gets upside down.

Connect the Dots...

"Connect the dots la la la la, connect the dots la la la..."

A couple of days ago I found Pee-wee's Playhouse TV show on Netflix and I was so excited to show it to my babies (actually they're toddlers) cause I used to love that show when I was a kid.... was then when I discovered I was one weird kid! OMG that show is so creepy!

But anyways I always remember the show had a segment where he sang with his creepy high pitch voice "Connect the dots la la la la, connect the dots la la la..." and he would complete a drawing connecting dots.

I don't have to tell you that I couldn't get the song out of my head while making this mani.

Behind the Scenes-Tutorial for Walgreens

I wanted to share with you guys my experience recording for Walgreens a tutorial on alternative options to gel nails on a more economic way that you can do at home.

I was contacted by GFR Media to make this tutorial that would be featured in El Nuevo Dia's online newspaper, which is the biggest newspaper on Puerto Rico.

It was my first tutorial where I talk in front of a camera and although it was nerve wracking and it wasn't perfect at all, I had lots of fun and I loved the experience and I hope to do it again and maybe start doing my own youtube tutorials that way.

This was one of the look I did for the tutorial using products by Sally Hansen.

If you want to see the article and the tutorial here's the link:

Every month we make a collab of different themes. This past month of July we decided on Tropical Fruits and I choose to make Pineapple Half Moon Nails.

Hawaiian Nails

"All we need. really, is a change from a near frigid to a tropical attitude of mind"
-Marjory Stoneman Douglas

For this manicure I used Orly's Key Lime Twist, from the Sugar Rush Collection, which is so perfect! It is like a neon light green but you don't need any white base to make the color pop like this. I only applied two light coats and a top coat an voilà! Perfection!
